The testing engineer as part of a product development team is responsible for testing mechanical parts and setting up and testing of opto-mechnical and mechanical assemblies as well as for the maintenance of the equipment in the lab.

1.1 Realize or support the realization of test set-ups for mechanical testing, optical testing of parts, components, modules and complete products.
1.2 Perform and document verification tests for optical, mechanical parts, components, assemblies and functional samples and prototypes according to related verification test plans.
1.3 Conducts and monitors lifetime tests, thermal tests, **** tests etc. for parts, components, modules and functional samples and prototypes according to test plans.
1.4 Supports the data analysis and the preparation of test reports.
1.5 Set-up calibration and maintenance plan/system for the lab equipment. Responsible for following up calibration and maintenance plans of lab equipment.
1.6 Reviews verification test plans from engineers and makes suggestions on additionally needed lab equipments if necessary.
1.7 Responsible for keeping track of laboratory consumables and for initiating the ordering of fresh/more laboratory consumables as needed.
1.8 Assembly of functional samples and prototypes. Mechanical adaptations of prototype parts as needed. Operates if applicable drilling machines, 3D-printer, mechanical hand-tools and other mechanical workshop machines for minor changes on parts for prototypes and functional samples.
1.9 Other duties, as assigned.




2.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
2.1 A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or opto-mechanical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 2-3 years working experience in a R&D environment, preferably in the field of optical instruments or medical devices. Work experience in a test house or test department would be desirable.
2.2 Competent and experienced in the use of Excel, Word. Experience in labview and matlab would be advantageous.
2.3 Hands on skills in optical and mechanical assembly and setting up breadboards.
2.4 Detail orientated and concentrated working ****.
2.5 Experience with basic test equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height-testers, gauges. Experience with optical test equipment would be a plus.
2.6 Experience in Validation Test Planning and/or Validation Test Execution.
2.7 Familiar with production equipments and testing instruments (like CMM, CNC-programming). Experience in lathe and mill operation is advantageous.
2.8 Creativity, one’s own initiative, analytical skills and judgment.
2.9 Excellent communication and teamwork skills
2.10 Strong analytic and hands on problem solving skills
2.11 Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
2.12 Occasional overtime work might be necessary.
