1. Direct all engineering activities on a global basis to include both owned and third party ****s (when applicable). Maintain/enhance “Best in Class/World Class” performance through implementation of key initiatives and strategies.
2. Ensure all corporate/regional procedures and policies are followed and in compliance to internal and external regulatory entities.
3. Provide direction on new equipment purchases and installation plans as well as new construction opportunities globally.
4. Provide effective reporting for accountability to performance goals. Perform and provide accurate data analysis to help drive decisions to present to management to support existing/new initiatives.
5. Participate in/develop programs for setting expectations/standards and to implement continuous improvement/cost savings activities.
6. Coordinate projects across corporate departments including engineering, manufacturing, marketing, quality assurance, quality control, global licensing, global sourcing, purchasing, inventory control, maintenance and management.
7. Maintain full support to regional operations/marketing/sales to ensure that existing/new product needs are met in an expeditious manner.
8. Establish and maintain strong and effective partnerships with OEM’s, vendors, suppliers, contractors and consultants to establish world class operational network.
9. Contribute and/or develop business continuity plans for manufacturing engineering operations.
10. Complete the construction, installation, commissioning, and validation of the process systems at Herbalife’s facilities as required.
11. Coordinate with Plant staff development and implementation of operator / technician / maintenance training, SOP’s and required preventative maintenance procedures and policies.
12. Capture and institute engineering standards based on learnings from prior projects for use in future Herbalife Manufacturing projects.
Requirements:
Skills:
· Evidence of strong leadership, strategic business planning, deep practical engineering knowledge and a proven track record for timely project delivery, project management, cost control and project performance.
· Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to understand formulations / process / procedures
· Demonstrated ability to design and critique mechanical, electronic, sensor and software automated systems
· Ability to troubleshoot and optimize Production/Process/Packaging equipment
· Ability to develop facility layouts for equipment placement and operation
· Demonstrated organizational/motivational skills – team formation and performance
· Sound judgment with effective technical/operational focus
· Strong Project multi-tasking management skills
Experience:
· 10-15 years of experience of relevant manufacturing/engineering/technical management
· Experience in planning, organizing, implementing, operating multi-national business projects in diverse cultural settings. Experience managing staff and budget for same.
· Experience and aptitude in Manufacturing operations/JV/Toll/Supplier management environment
· 10-15 years Working knowledge of materials/process/equipment (i.e. characterization/effect on manufacturing environment)
· 10-15 years’ experience in Food/Dietary/Nutritional/Pharmaceutical kindred product industries with working knowledge of cGMP other regulatory environments
· Mechanical aptitude, understanding equipment and operation functionality to establish/challenge/optimize run rates/productivity
· Demonstrated ability and effectiveness in developing/writing/revamping procedures and protocols
· Practical knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma enterprise
· Ability to educate others in automation, controls, machine design and process improvement methodologies
· Willing to travel 20-30% of the time annually
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· 10-15 years custom machine / automated systems innovation and design experience
· 10-15 years of comprehensive experience in equipment performance specification, operational analysis and challenge resolution including hands on project management in food regulated environment
· Experience establishing new manufacturing and engineering systems and organizations
· Experience with regulatory and standardization agencies such as FDA, CE, UL, NSF, NIS, ASME, etc.
· SPC applied/working knowledge
· Experience in scaling R&D developments to production capacity
· Demonstrated experience with manufacturing integration/cultural change
· Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan, coordinate and complete multi-national projects
· Ability to design, implement and critique control and data acquisition systems and software
· Demonstrated high level of creativity and innovation in problem solving
